FAQs

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by difficulties in social interaction, communication challenges, and restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities. Individuals with ASD may exhibit a wide range of symptoms and severity levels, leading to variability in how the condition affects each person.

ABA therapy is a scientifically validated approach that focuses on understanding and changing socially important behavior based on principles of learning and motivation. Willow Reach prioritizes assent based therapy and requires parent collaboration to ensure therapy is uniquely tailored toward the client’s needs.

ABA therapy does not cure Autism. However, since ABA therapy is a scientifically validated approach that has been shown to be effective in improving a wide range of behaviors and skills, it has been widely recognized as the most effective intervention for individuals with ASD.
Each child is provided an individualized plan that will have recommendations for how long ABA therapy should last. In addition, each plan will include criteria for discharge. ABA therapy hours are individually recommended based on what is medically necessary for the child.
Willow Reach currently provides ABA therapy in the home and community setting based on the child’s needs. In the home setting, our team works with each family to create a fun and supportive therapy environment. Our team works to alleviate as much stress as possible that may be related to receiving ABA therapy in the home.

ABA therapy is covered by most insurances for children with a diagnosis of ASD. Maryland has an autism insurance mandate which requires health insurance plans to cover ABA therapy for children diagnosed with ASD. Willow Reach currently offers insurance based services and private pay services.

A Board Certified Behavior Analyst will conduct an initial assessment. From there, the BCBA will provide direct oversight to a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) who will provide direct 1:1 services to each child. In addition, a BCBA will work individually with parents and caregivers to support generalization and maintenance of skills each week.

You can get started with Willow Reach by completing our inquiry form. You can also contact your insurance company to verify coverage for ABA therapy. Most insurances require a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) from a licensed clinician.

A holistic approach is taking the entire child and family system into consideration and developing a plan that supports their physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being through a collaborative and individualized treatment plan.

Our program highlights the expertise of each stakeholder and focuses on collaboration and consistent communication to deliver effective treatment. Our team focuses on enhancing your child’s current strengths through assent based practices and compassionate care.
